Flood

I forgot to write about the flood we had in our apartment. This happened a long time ago.
It rained for like 3 days straight. No, it POURED for 3 days straight. I've never seen so much rain in my life.

On the 3rd day Zach went into the guest room to study and felt a squish under his feet. Almost the entire room was soaking wet. Good thing we had all our books in boxes underneath that bed to soak up all the water! We had to unload all the books to dry out and we had a lot of casualties.

When I called the office to see if maintenance could help us, the clueless girl at the desk told us we would have to wait until the rained stopped b/c if they came and cleaned it up now, then it would just get wet again. So we used all our towels to try and mop up as much water as we could. Ring out and repeat.

When the maintenance guy finally came he couldn't believe the girl in the office had waited that long to call him. He said "that's what we do - clean up messes like this". He said that soaking up the water with the towels was a waste of time. All he did was rip up the carpet in one swipe and pull out the padding that was absorbing all the water. It took him about 30 seconds. I really had to restrain myself from going to the office and letting that girl know how annoyed I was.

Supposedly they fixed the source of the problem so hopefully during our next torrential downpour this won't happen again.
